Peter Harbeson sent me this link. Remember the Golden Books? If you are old enough, you remember their wonderful end papers. In fact, there were many books with art end papers, including Misty of Chincoteague by Marguerite Henry, illustrated by Wesley Dennis (below). These end papers added meaning to the book, or illustrated the theme.
For years, I have followed the adventures of Silva Neilands, a Canadian woman who trots the world in search of ancient and meaningful beads, jewelry, and artifacts. Her write ups make the pieces come alive. A Turkoman bracelet, below. The site is old beads.
