Words of Art
I’m a big fan of visual journals. We all need to make art that satisfies us and no one else, and a journal is a perfect place for that. I often tell people that because I keep a raw-art journal, “I draw with words.” Well the illustrations below, which are not mine, do exactly that. The illustrations come from this site, (he seems to gather them rather than actually draw them.) These illustrations really draw with words.
Great idea. In any language.

The right place to eat your words

Good Morning — I love those word paintings!! I have not kept a journal in many years, but want to restart that wonderful practice. I was too late to sign up for your online course, but will definitely take the next one you offer. The idea of adding art to a journal really appeals to me. Happy New Year….you have inspired me!

Aren’t they fun? There is so much opportunity out there for creativity. The next class will start in early February, so watch the newsletter. I was going to start it in late January, but I’m slammed with business training. –Q

How fun! It would be a great challenge to try something from the natural world – say a wildflower or bird – and use the words to describe the various parts. Rather a learning map and a piece of art combined into one. Awesome idea. Thanks for sharing.

It would be a even better if you gave the artist’s name or linked to their websites. I’d sure like to give the artist credit. –Q
