Ocotillos [Oh-ko-tee-oh] are plants that predict the weather. If there is no rain in the forecast, the plant looks like a bunch of thorny sticks. If rain is coming, the plant will set leaves within 12 hours. These tall, thorny plants create drama in the desert.

The Wave is an amazing formation of striped sandstone in a difficult to reach location on the Utah/Arizona border. The wild striping and the dream of seeing it in starlight inspired this piece.
